Lime Rock Busch North October 1, 2005 here

Several editorials and letters to the editor of the Berkshire Eagle that pretty much sum up the Bush regime as I see it.  Believe it or not, I am an extreme conservative myself but cannot stand a person that lies and lies and lies and is unwilling to admit making mistakes.  And what lies they have been!  He is an evil idiot that has no sense of reality.  He is surrounded with like minded hypocrites that are perpetrating the ruination of our society. They are on a mission to destroy this country.  Christian ethics/values you say?  Better think about that lie too.  Pure BS!  Bush gives Christianity a worse reputation than the Roman Catholic Church!

Remember the old Superman television show in the ‘50’s? Superman stood for “Truth, Justice and the American way of life”? Well, we sure lost site of that now, didn’t we?

I attended the Peace March on Washington DC Sept 24, 2005.  Here are also photos of the new WW2 memorial. Photos speak for themselves.  It was great fun to meet with many folks of similar and differing opinions.  Also a very moving event.

On the trip home the bus stopped at a Cracker Barrel in Maryland and we were approached by a couple in their 40’s or 50’s.  The husband is a Marine (I personally don’t think they ever are ex-Marines. My Dad was in the 4th Marine division during WW2).  They thanked us profusely for attending the demonstration and apologized for not being able to attend.

Just another “WOW” moment of the trip.

July 8-9 at Lime Rock Ferrari Racing Days. Friday the rain canceled almost everything.  We did have cars on course from 0945 till 1115 when we broke for lunch.  The rest of the day was cancelled and when we returned on Saturday the weather cooperated, for the most part. Photo’s here.

Thanks to Carleton Foster, Raz Macauley, Jim Wiehl, Pam Johnson, Jon Rutka, Bart Carlevaro, Linda Louie for staffing the pit lane with me!

July 1-2 at Lime Rock where I worked tech inspection for the SCCA Speed World Challenge.  I missed the Touring Car race while I counted the teeth on the gears of the #5 Pontiac GTO.  Something different. Photo’s here.

Monday July 4 I skipped Lime Rock in favor of the July 4 Parade in Pittsfield, MA. Photos here of the Newell reunion July 3, Parade July 4 and the turkey commune (movie clips here) that visits my backyard.

Note that Lime Rock is quickly getting the paddock paved in the central section by the timing tower.  The teams that don’t like the dirt only need to ante up some $$ and pavement will appear!  Thanks, teams!!!

June 8 thru 13 at the Montreal Grand Prix (F-1). Not too many shots, but some are interesting. Note the photos of us at the red lights at pit exit taken during the open house on Thursday.  Kinda prophetic, eh Pablo?

Some AVI video’s here of the parade lap of Austin Healeys and the drivers. About 4MB each.

June 3-4, 2005, Lime Rock Jaguar Club event with VSCCA.  Frank’s back with the 1951 MG-TD.  Thank goodness for the shortened NHIS experience.  Frank found a loose left rear axle nut and probably would have shed the wheel if he had gone out! Album 1 (356 photos).  We ended this experience at Lime Rock with a gearbox that needs changing, rebuilding, refurbishing...

Also included in the photo gallery are many photos of the Connecticut Electrathon races that were held on the kidney course up by the skidpad.  High School students competing in team-built electric “cars”.  I wish they did that when I was in High School!  Some of the students missed graduation ceremonies to compete!

Full-res photos from album 1 are available.  If you would like to use these photos for publication or your own use, feel free.  For publication, please credit and notify me and send a few copies of the publication!  Thanks!

May 19-22, 2005, I travel to New Hampshire International Speedway with my college buddy Frank Filangeri.  More adventures for us and Frank’s 1951 MG-TD.  The weekend was cut short Saturday afternoon when rain moved in.  We’re not ducks, so we left around 1100 Sunday as the rain continued.  We enjoyed the event, regardless!  On Saturday there was an extraordinary concours with lots of cars few people have or will ever see.  Check it out here! All the photos, fuzzy, half-missed, totally missed… they’re all here! These pocket cameras are tricky!

Album 1 (300+ photos),  Album 2 (300+ photos)

Full-res photos from album 1, album 2 are available.  If you would like to use these photos for publication or your own use, feel free.  For publication, please credit and notify me and send a few copies of the publication!  Thanks!

In transporting various engine parts to a machine shop in Simsbury CT I travel along Rte 57 thru the Tolland State Forest thru what may be referred to as the middle of nowhere.  In the days before our country was born, this was farm country (still is).  On a recent trip I stopped in 2 cemeteries.  The first was on the outskirts (?) West of Tolland MA which may have been more of a family cemetery.  The second is in West Granville MA which has the “old” section and more recent burials in the front section.  What I found astounding, apart from the large number of old graves from before 1850, was the number of Revolutionary War veterans.  These were remote country dwellers, rugged farmers that went to war. photos

On my way home from a BMW event at Lime Rock on April 22, 2005 I came upon a sad site (Route 7 at Page Road, about ½ mile before the intersection of Rte 63).  2 of the Skip Barber School mechanics were following a woman that suddenly jammed on the brakes while talking on her cell phone.  A failed braking maneuver sent them into the dirt bank driver’s right which overturned the car in the road.  No-one was hurt, thankfully.  The Nissan Altima goes to the recycling facility. photos

Here are various Winter/Spring photos and videos from Ice Racing on Round Lake, NY on Feb 20. Also photos of the Turkeys that visit my back yard.  Then there’s the April 1 VSCCA event at Lime Rock. Saturday April 2 was canceled due to rain and wind.  All this at one (er.. 2) links!
