Clark W. Nicholls - 2008

Arranged somewhat chronologically,
most recent first….

Will this country, or the world,
ever recover?
What will history think of the
Bush years? Here is what professional historians have to say.
HNN
Poll: 61% of Historians Rate the Bush Presidency Worst
Of course that doesn’t take into account what
happens next. The good old USA may be a different place in 100 years and the
people then may celebrate GWB as having enabled the changes that occurred in
that time. Only your decendants will know!

Lime Rock
ALMS weekend, July 11-12, 2008 was the first professional series event on the
new track pavement. Quite the event, lots of spectators and fabulous new areas
for viewing. Photos here and here

Did you hear? Lime
Rock is repaved.
It was shut down for repaving starting Tuesday after the Grand Am weekend May
27, 2008 and reopened Saturday July 5, 2008 for the Jaguar/VSCCA event. ALMS is
scheduled to appear July 11-12, 2008. What do I think? I think it is
GREAT! Something new, exciting and
challenging. Photos at these links:
Interested in the VSCCA events (www.vscca.org):
The Jaguar Club and
VSCCA will open
the newly paved track on July 4-5
with an un-muffled event. If you can, be there!
If you are a race worker, come on and inaugurate the new track! (will they run
Lime Rock Classic or one of the several other options?)
Contact Jean Petryshyn and Steve Chisholm if you can
come! (jeanp@teesplus.com) and let
Jean know you’re coming.
860-536-3196 between 6 and 9 PM please!
And don't forget Vintage VSCCA May 2-3!
Jean Petryshyn is the one to
contact (jeanp@teesplus.com) and let
her know you’re coming.
860-536-3196 between 6 and 9 PM please!
VSCCA will have the track from 1PM till 5PM on Friday and from 9AM till 1PM on
Saturday.
The Club at Lime Rock will have the track till 1 on Friday and after 1 on
Saturday.
Volunteers will work only the VSCCA sessions, track employees will work The
Club.
They hope to run a tighter schedule to give the entrants maximum track time, so
be prepared!
Track drawing. (this section added March 28,
2008)
This document was found on the internet at a site (The
link was widely sent all over the place). It is a preliminary drawing of the track showing potential changes. It is
not the final copy and I don’t have the final version to share (that’s what I’m
told, 2 or more revisions have been made since then). Of note is that the pit
entrances shown in the drawing are no longer planned as shown, a single
entrance starting at the bridge vicinity is more likely.
The changes worth mentioning that are shown include an
alternate configuration for the right hander onto No-Name straight (Station 5),
alternate uphill track surface and an alternate configuration at West
Bend. Location of new No Name are being
fine tuned from what is shown.
Keep in mind that “Classic Lime Rock” will still exist (although
the newly paved track may be wider in some sections). The pit entrance will be moved to the bridge
area (which is being re-installed as I am typing here. Clearance from the track
surface to the bridge will now be at least 4 meters) and the grid and pits will
see changes.
All in all I think
this is great!
Given the fact it is going to happen. The new alternative configurations will
allow for new experiences for both the racers and course personnel. Hey, let’s
have fun! Any event will have 2 or 3 options to incorporate into the course
they want to use. Here’s
the outdated 1MB PDF file
Here is
the pdf released at the press conference April 10, 2008 showing the latest
plans for improvements. Again, by June there will undoubtedly be changes to
these plans. Here is the press release that goes with the
drawings (word document). Here is the press
conference audio presentation from April 10.
Of course you’ve all gone to the official Lime Rock website and seen this. Here
is the engineering drawing from www.limerockclub.com
April 21, 2008.
BTW, to clear up the question,
